The 24th Mallerstang Horseshoe & Nine Standards Yomp
The Rotary Club of Upper Eden would like to thank all who helped make the 2006 Yomp such good success.
Once again local businesses rose to the occasion and donated sufficient funds to cover the total costs involved in the organisation and set-up for this year’s Yomp.
Messrs T R Handley & Sons, a major haulage contractor based at Crosby Garrett, and The Kendal Cumbria Scaffolding Company, based in Kendal and owned and operated by members of the well known Bowman family of Kirkby Stephen, are shown on this page presenting cheques for £1,000 each to President Roger Frank of the Upper Eden Club.
President Roger expressed his thanks on behalf of the Club and to all of the 600 or so people involved in the event and said that support of this nature by local businesses is essential to the success of the Yomp and means that the Club can donate to charities all of the money raised from entry fees and individual Yomper’s donations from their sponsorships.
The major Charities that will benefit from this year’s event are Eden Children’s Hospice, Barnado’s UK and Thandi Friends Project Africa.
