Please print out an application form, complete it and send it with your cheque to the address
at the bottom of the form. Please use one application form per applicant.
Please do so as early as possible to make sure of entrance, as numbers
will be limited. If a receipt is required please enclose a stamped, addressed
envelope.

The Yomp is the major fund raising event of Upper Eden Rotary Club. It is an ideal opportunity to raise money for your nominated charity. However we request that a minimum of 25% of sponsorship raised be paid to us for our nominated charities. We need as much sponsorship money
as possible so please help us if you can.

Entry Fees
Full Yomp: Adults £10, Under 16’s and over 60’s

Half Yomp: Adults £10, Under 16’s and over 60’s

Registration on the day
Full/Half Yomp: from 7.00am at Kirkby Stephen Grammar School (NGR 772088)
Short Yomp: 11.30am/12.30pm at the Marshalls' tent at Tailbridge Hill
(NGR 809042)

Full Yomp (Walkers start between 8am and 9am. Runners start between 8am
and 10am)
Half Yomp (All entrants between 8am and 10am)
Short Yomp (All entrants between 11.30am and 12.30pm from Tailbridge Hill)
Check Point Times
For safe management of the event we are obliged to fix latest times at
the following check points:
Full Yomp
Check Point 1 : Tommy Road - 11am
Check Point 4 : Aisgill Cottages - 2pm
Check Point 8 : Tailbridge Hill - 4.30pm
Half Yomp
Check Point 3A : Dalefoot - 12 noon
Check Point 8 : Tailbridge Hill - 4.30pm

Please note that participants who reach a check point after the latest times above will be asked to retire. Transport back to Kirkby Stephen will be arranged by Marshalls at the check points.
Safety
There are a total of 14 checkpoints on the route each staffed and equipped
with water and first aid. The route is waymarked with flags at average
100m intervals. The local Mountain Rescue is on on standbye. Radio or
mobile phone contact is maintained from checkpoints to the Kirkby Stephen
base. Safe alternative routes are prepared for use in the event of adverse
changes in weather conditions.
Refreshments, changing and shower facilities
These are available free of charge at Kirkby Stephen Grammar School which
is the start and finish point for both Full and Half Yomp courses.
Trophies, Medals and Certificates
All entrants are timed to the nearest minute and receive a completion
certificate. There are 20 cups and trophies awarded to winners of various
categories and all winners receive a medal. Latest finishing time to count
for trophies is 4.00pm. The full Yomp ia a FRA registered event, class
BL.
Access
Landowners have given permission for the Yomp routes to cross their land
on the day of the event only. This restricted permission in no way constitutes
agreement to any right of way.
Rules
The YOMP and Half Yomp are open to everyone. However children under the
age of 14 must be accompanied by a responsible adult throughout the event.
Junior Yompers entering the short Yomp must obtain written permission
to participate from a parent or guardian and must be accompanied by a
responsible adult, authorised by the parent or guardian, with a ratio
of no more than four children to one adult.
REGRET ABSOLUTELY NO DOGS ALLOWED
No bikes or powered vehicles allowed.
Checkpoints must be visited in the correct sequence.
Participants must carry their number sheet with them throughout the Yomp.
The numbering system is essential to ensure that everyone who starts is
accounted for at the end of the day.
Anyone wishing to retire must notify a checkpoint Marshall and hand in
their number sheet on return to Kirkby Stephenn Grammar School.
Yompers are asked:
To carry Outdoor Leisure Map 19 or equivalent
To carry compass and whistle
To wear suitable clothing for the fells
To observe the Country Code
Service Personnel
For Service Personnel , Warcop AFTC is 7 miles from Kirkby Stephen and
has extensive accommodation and a large bivouac area.
