Half Yomp: 7.00-9.00 at Kirkby Stephen Grammar School
Short Yomp: 11.30-12.30 at the Tailbridge Checkpoint.
Teams
Team members must register individually on the day and obtain their Yomp number before checking out onto the course.
Start times
Full Yomp: Walkers start between 8am and 9am. Runners start between 8am and 10am
Half Yomp: All entrants start between 8am and 10am
Short Yomp: All entrants start between 11.30am and 12.30pm from Tailbridge Hill
Tansport for short course yompers
Transport (Classic coach) is available to take Short Course Yompers from Kirkby Stephen Grammar School to their start point at Tailbridge.
Course way marking
The route is waymarked with flags at an average of 100m intervals.

There are a total of 14 checkpoints on the route each staffed and equipped with water and first aid. Checkpoint grid refs
Check points: latest crossing times
For safe management of the event we are obliged to fix the latest times for participants to cross some check points. Participants who reach these check points after these latest times will be asked to retire. Transport back to Kirkby Stephen will be arranged by Marshalls at the check points.

Full Yomp: CP1 (Tommy Road) 11am. CP4 (Aisgill Cottages) 2pm. CP 8 (Tailbridge Hill) 4.30pm
Half Yomp: CP3A (Dalefoot) 12 noon. CP8 (Tailbridge Hill) 4.30pm
Mountain rescue
The local Mountain Rescue is on on standby. Radio or mobile phone contact is maintained from checkpoints to the Kirkby Stephen base.
Alternative routes in poor weather
Safe alternative routes are prepared for use in the event of adverse changes in weather conditions.
Refreshments, changing and shower facilities
There are a limited number of refreshments (sandwiches, tea, soft drinks etc) available free of charge at Kirkby Stephen Grammar School which is the start and finish point for both Full and Half Yomp courses. We stress that refreshments are limited so if you feel you will need a substantial meal to recuperate after the event we suggest that you bring your own food and drink.
Access
Landowners have given permission for the Yomp routes to cross their land on the day of the event only. This restricted permission in no way constitutes agreement to any right of way.
Rules
The Yomp and Half Yomp are open to everyone. However children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a responsible adult throughout the event. Junior Yompers entering the short Yomp must obtain written permission to participate from a parent or guardian and must be accompanied by a responsible adult, authorised by the parent or guardian, with a ratio of no more than four children to one adult.
REGRET ABSOLUTELY NO DOGS ALLOWED
No bikes or powered vehicles allowed.
Checkpoints must be visited in the correct sequence.
Participants must carry their number sheet with them throughout the Yomp. The numbering system is essential to ensure that everyone who starts is accounted for at the end of the day.
Anyone wishing to retire must notify a checkpoint Marshall and hand in their number sheet on return to Kirkby Stephenn Grammar School.
Yompers are asked:
To carry Outdoor Leisure 19 Explorer 1:25000.
To carry compass and whistle
To wear suitable clothing for the fells
To observe the Country Code
Service personnel
For Service Personnel , Warcop AFTC is 7 miles from Kirkby Stephen and has extensive accommodation and a large bivouac area.
